Full Container Load (FCL)
FCL stands for "Full Container Load." It is a shipping term that refers to a mode of transportation where an entire shipping container is exclusively dedicated to one consignee or shipper. In other words, the container is fully loaded with goods from a single party. The most commonly used container sizes are 20 feet and 40 feet (which represent their length).
In addition, there are containers referred to as 20 HQ and 40 HQ. These are categorized as "high cube" containers and are approximately one foot taller than the standard 20 and 40-foot containers.
- Exclusive Use of Container: With FCL, the entire container is dedicated to your shipment, providing maximum security and minimizing the risk of damage or loss associated with sharing space with other cargo.
- Flexibility in Loading: You have the flexibility to load the container according to your specific requirements, optimizing space utilization and ensuring efficient packing of goods.
- Faster Transit Times: FCL shipments typically have shorter transit times compared to LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments since there's no need for consolidation or deconsolidation at the ports.
